Director of LBH-FPY Surabaya Rizchi Hari Setiawan, S.H said that this Paralegal Lemdik activity aims to build human resources (HR) and learn to understand the law in Indonesia.
Based on Law (UU) number 16 of 2011 regarding legal aid, and the rules are clarified based on Minister of Law and Human Rights Regulation number 1 of 2018 concerning legalists.
This means that a Paralegal is someone who is not an advocate who has knowledge in the field of law, both material law and procedural law with the supervision of legal aid organizations that play a role in helping people seeking justice.

Rizchi continued, in addition to understanding legal knowledge, this paralegal Lemdik is a form of unifying the mission and vision of legal assistance programs for underprivileged communities.
Meanwhile, the Supervisor of the LBH-FPY Foundation, Suhartanto, expressed his appreciation for the innovations made by LBH-FPY Surabaya.
“This paralegal Lemdik activity is an innovation to change the mindset system and the way paralegals work later,” said Suhartanto.
In the process, the paralegals will use a combination of legal and non-legal instruments known as alternative dispute resolution, which includes negotiation, mediation, legal advocacy and counseling as well as community empowerment.
A number of training materials provided also varied. Starting from legal assistance and paralegal functions, the legal system in Indonesia, negotiation and mediation, dispute resolution strategies, case filing techniques, strategies and advocacy techniques for portfolios.
“After receiving the paralegal Lemdiknas, their role will be to live and work in the midst of the communities they serve, hopefully they can help the poor and marginalized so that they can assist those involved in legal problems in the non-litigation realm,” concluded Suhartanto.
It is known that the presenters of the LBH-FPY paralegal Lemdiknas contained three lecturers namely Iskandar laka S.H., M.H, Alfonso S, E., S.H, and H. Agus Salim, S.H., M.H.(DOD).
